What We Like about Cotopaxi

Cotopaxi’s maxim, Do Good, touches every aspect of their business, particularly the ethic of their product sourcing and creation. Cotopaxi prefers to use re-purposed and recycled materials; they treat their seamstresses with respect, allowing them to dictate patterns and colors; they only work with suppliers who uphold a rigorous code of conduct. Cotopaxi is known for their bold color patterns and designs, but behind this colorful front, there is a humble backdrop with a higher purpose: Cotopaxi is a certified B Corporation that dedicates 1% of their revenue toward addressing poverty and supporting community development. To date, they’ve awarded 42 grants in six developing countries. Whether it’s funding independent farmers or helping install irrigation pumps in Myanmar, Cotopaxi is committed to helping eradicate poverty. These days, companies that make backpacks are a dime a dozen. Most are look-alike operations that mass-produce their backpacks in giant Chinese factories. Not Cotopaxi. When we started our backpack category, they were our first choice; we’re proud to play a small part in their mission.
